Mattijn Buwalda

Mattijn has been instructor of the AWLS course for Outdoor Medicine since 2015. Education, extreme physiology and military medicine have his interest. Mattijn is a technical rebreather-diver with a passion for ship wrecks. When not diving, Mattijn is working as acting Anesthesiologist, at the intensive care or in specialized centra in dive medicine all-over the world.

Mark Frederikse

Mark is ship’s physician at cruise ships in the Caribbean and Pacific. He is trained as Emergency Doctor and he regularly works as a reservist for the Dutch army. Mark has been instructor of the AWLS course since 2015. He is a Open Water Scuba Instructor  (OWSI)  with broad experience in diving all-over the world.

Wouter Jetten

Wouter is founding member and board member of Outdoor Medicine. He is an Emergency Physician and currently works in Aruba. His home in The Netherlands is an historical sailing ship which is still sailing. Wouter has worked as ship’s physician for Greanpeace in the Arctic, in a rural hospital in North-Cameroon and as expedition doctor at the Kilimanjaro. Wouter has broad experience as teacher of the international STCW/IMO-course ‘Medical Care on Board’ for nautical officers.

Maybritt Kuypers

Maybritt is founding member and president of Outdoor Medicine. She is Emergency Physician and Fellow of the Academy  of  Wilderness  Medicine,  AWLS  course director/instructor and rescue diver.  Maybritt  current profession is Flight Surgeon for European astronauts of the European Space Agency (ESA). In her free time she loves to go to the water to go sailing, diving and surfing.
