The Wilderness First Aid Mountain (WFAM) is a unique course in addition to the Wilderness First Aid (WFA). The WFAM is aimed at the professional and enthusiast who undertakes and/or guides hikes and expeditions to areas above 4000 meters where medical assistance is not immediately available. The 2-day course consists of a day of home study (e-learning) and a day of instruction and hands-on workshops. During this course you will learn more on high altitude related illnesses and their treatment. Further, we will discuss the content of your medical kit and you will learn more on going to altitude with pre-existing diseases (e.g. diabetes). Prior medical knowledge is required in the form of a valid WFA certificate or similar valid prior education. The WFAM is a mandatory part of our Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
The course will be given on the 16th of December 2018 in Soest (The Netherlands). NB: This course will be held in Dutch only.
