Fann Mountains - Tajikistan '25
Course
€3350
2025-08-29 to 2025-09-08
There are few regions as undiscovered and pristine as Tajikistan, the hidden gem of Central Asia. This smallest of all the ‘Stans’ is one of the most mountainous countries in the world, with 93% of its land area covered in mountains. To the east lies the impressive Pamir range, with peaks reaching up to 7,500 meters. Centuries ago, this region boasted flourishing cities along the Silk Road, but today, it’s an area where nature reigns supreme. Flora and fauna thrive here, and human habitation is sparse. Escaping into the wilderness? Here, it’s more the rule than the exception.

This unique mountainous landscape sets the stage for the Expedition Medicine course, an intensive training focusing on expedition medicine. In this course, you’ll not only explore the medical challenges of high-altitude expeditions but also traverse the rugged terrain of the Fann Mountains. This ten-day trek will lead you through a series of four- and five-thousand-meter-high peaks, turquoise lakes, and glacier-filled valleys. We’ll cross mountain passes nearly 5,000 meters high and camp on the remote high plateaus of the Fanns. Wild camping, fresh meltwater rivers, encounters with shepherds and their livestock—it’s the ultimate escape from daily life.
