Outdoor Medicine board members Maybritt and Wouter gave a workshop ‘medical kits, improvised splinting and patient transport at the Dutch Emergency Medicine Conference 2016 last week. They were supported by Reddingsbrigade Egmond aan Zee and Surfing doctors. The participants practiced a kitesurf accident scenario at the beach of Egmond aan Zee.

Two kite surfers had crashed into each other in the air and had tumbled down on the beach. Both surfers had multiple injuries and fractures, causing the circulation to be unstable. The participants needed to transport the surfers of the beach in a safe way.
