You’re a medic, so all eyes are on you when medical problems arise. Also on peaks in the Pyrenees or while diving in the Great Barrier Reef. So, I decided to participate in the AWLS-course last April. Very interesting and helpful. A good preparation for anybody who is thinking about working as an expedition medic, but actually for every medic who leaves their consultation room once in a while. After all, you are the doctor, inside and Outside the hospital, basically anywhere.
In the course, main topics in Wilderness Medicine were discussed by seasoned expedition medics. Alteration between theory and hands-on practice, a good instructor team, and enthusiastic participants resulted in three well-invested days. General practitioners, specialists, and tropical medics, all can find useful knowledge and skills here!
Tom will be responsible for medical aspects of Cycle for Plan – Malawi. This is a mountain bike tour of 7 days, 550 kilometers, over dirt roads in Malawi. Aside from a personal challenge, participants will fundraise for projects fighting child marriage.
