Medical program

The medical program takes place during the trip from Maun, Botswana to Victoria Fall, Zimbabwe. Workshops will generally take place in the cool mornings, and end of the afternoons. The Lectures will be held outside after sunset from around 7-8pm.

  7. Traveler’s diarrhea, giardiasis & other waterborne wilderness infections
  8. Illnesses in the returned traveller from Africa
  9. Improvised trauma and wound care

  1. Navigation/GPS use in the wilderness
  2. Sanitation: backcountry water disinfection
  3. Patient scenario training
  4. Splinting and patient transport
  5. African Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) visit
  6. Medical kit walkthrough
  7. Snake farm visit
