Michiel van Veelen, Emergency Physician, DTMH

Michiel is a co-founder of Outdoor Medicine and an AWLS & Mountain Medicine instructor. Michiel travelled overland from Rotterdam to Capetown a couple of years ago and has been addicted to Africa since. He spent the last two years working for the University of Botswana as a Lecturer in Emergency Medicine. Currently he works in a prehospital environment on the helicopter and fixed wing plane of the Okavango Air Rescue providing emergency medical services as well as aeromedical transport an evacuation all over Botswana and its neighbouring countries.

Joost ten Brinke, Surgeon in training, PhD candidate

Joost is a co-founder of Outdoor Medicine and an AWLS and Mountain Medicine instructor. Joost got hooked to Africa after several trips and work experience in Tanzania and has continued his differentiation in traumatology in Tygerberg Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa.

Wouter Jetten, Emergency Physician

Wouter is a co-founder of Outdoor Medicine and an AWLS and Dive & Marine Life Support instructor. Wouter gained work experience in Africa as an axpedition doctor on the highest mountain of Africa, the Kilimanjaro.

Pieter Wismans, Internist PhD

Pieter has been one of the key internists of the Rotterdam based Havenziekenhuis for almost three decades, accumulating a huge experience with travel medicine and tropical infectious diseases. The Havenziekenhuis (Port Hospital) has always been at the epicentre of different cultures, climates and import illnesses of its visiting sailors as it serves one of the worlds biggest international ports.
